Good evening, weather family! I hope that storm treated you all well. Personally, I received minimal damage other than a few limbs being knocked down. This lack of problems is mostly due to the track of the storm shifting unexpectedly east, which led to limited impacts in the area. Areas in Florida, East Georgia, and the Carolinas weren't so lucky, however, with over 50 dead and over 1,000 missing in those areas. Historic flash flooding and dam failures across those areas also resulted in billions of dollars of damage. This flooding that resulted was remarked as "biblical" by BBC. This flooding has left many people stranded with little food or water, and the only way out is through the air.

This week is expected to be a great week for recovery in the South, with welcome sunshine and a wonderful pattern shift bringing drier and cooler air into the area. I'm sure all of us are happily welcoming that for a change!
Pattern Change...

Here is our forecasted high and low temperatures for the week. As can be clearly seen, a much cooler week with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s can be expected.
This is a significant cooldown compared to pre-Helene, which had highs well into the 90s. This cooldown will also be accompanied by sunny, dry air. This dry air will also be welcomed due to its creation of a lack of rain and storm development in the area. Although, we might need to start pulling out the chapstick!

Here is our forecasted Dewpoint temperature. This is not representing our actual temperature, rather the moisture in the air. These values are well below normal for this time of year, meaning there will be lots of drier air in the area this week. This will also bring our feel-like temperatures down, with little moisture to heat it up. This will lead to feel-like temperatures consistently in the 70s throughout the week.
Forecast...

Green color for this week for great weather ahead! Expect temperatures to vary slightly towards the middle of the week. High 70s and low 80s remain pretty consistent throughout the week. Expect periodic clouds by late this week keeping temperatures down a bit. There also could be a slight change of rain late this week but it remains pretty inegligible. Overall, expect a great week for outdoor activities and College Football!
